Since 1850.

The precursor of the Folger Coffee Company was founded in 1850 in San Francisco, California, U.S., as the Pioneer Steam Coffee and Spice Mills. The owner, William H. Bovee, saw an opportunity to produce roasted and ground coffee ready for brewing.[3] Before that, Californians had to purchase green coffee beans, and roast and grind them on their own.

So To help build his mill, Bovee hired James A. Folger as a carpenter. James had arrived from Nantucket Island at the age of 15 with his two older brothers during the California Gold Rush. However back In the 1850s, kerosene began to offer a cheaper alternative to whale oil, which had been Nantucket’s life-blood, resulting in the re-purposing of many of its ships to bring coffee from South America to San Francisco.[4] After working at Bovee’s mill for nearly a year, James had saved enough money to stake a claim in the company and headed out to mine for gold.

He agreed to carry along samples of coffee and spices, taking orders from grocery stores along the way. Upon his return to San Francisco in 1865, James became a full partner of The Pioneer Steam Coffee and Spice Mills. In 1872, he bought out the other partners and renamed the company to J.A. Folger & Co.

Our Thoughts.

I drank this coffee purely by accident. I was on vacation at my cousins house in Kearny New Jersey. For three day straight I was drinking this. I really enjoyed it. Then one day I asked my Aunt Sue what kind of coffee is this. Now I expected an answer like Gourmesso or The Donut Shop. She simply said Folders. I just could not believe it because this stuff was really good. Therefore I just could not believe this was store bought and a regular household brand. In contrast when I read the history of the company I can see why it is so good. And that is another reason to love this brand. The History alone is amazing ! So for that reason alone I love this stuff.

We use this coffee all the time we run on down to Restaurant Depot and get a few boxes of the K- Cups because they do not simply last a full week we just go through them that fast and well we are working literally 24/7 so to be honest that is why we go through it so fast ..

AmazonFresh Colombia Ground Coffee, Medium Roast, 32 Ounce

To be truthful we did not think we would ever like this coffee, actually I did not think I was ever going to like it.. But one of the interns got it on the sneak tip and well gave it to me when I asked for a cup and after drinking two full cups they told me what I drank . I was pretty much hooked after that..

So there you have it the best three coffees this week and I have to admit they are a solid three ..

Now..

I for one have been curious ever since I saw their offices in Miami, well when you are in Miami traffic you are pretty much looking around more than half the time for 20 min at a time and I caught a glimpse of the name an googled it on my phone. And I saw the most interesting packaging and tagline.

I am a coffee and caffeine junkie so I knew I had to eventually try this stuff out. I have never even heard of Nespresso before so I was even more interested. After some more googling I found out that Nespresso was a pretty awesome coffee machine that I would not mind to own.

But we do have a Keurig and well their Glorybrew line does work in Keurig Coffee Makers. So we were golden when it came to review time. But I was still skeptical because I heard that they were not that strong and well I like a strong coffee, in fact if the coffee is not strong enough for my liking my thoughts will not be to highly of that product. I might like the taste but not the end result. I’m sorry but I feel that coffee should have a certain kick to it hell that is what its for.

But then I found out a few years back they had an upgrade to be Even stronger, better taste than original Gourmesso pods from 2015. And at 30% less, Gourmesso gives the espresso fans budget relief without much. I Highly recommend it. Gourmesso has updated their line-up of Nespresso compatible coffee capsules. And thankfully those are the ones I got.

To keep the playing field even I ordered the bundle pack so I can taste different blends. Did I like every one of them sure not like rave reviews mad but I will say this The Sir Hazelnut is better than what you would get at any 7-11 or WAWA its just a richer taste its a better quality coffee? But the Sir Hazelnut vs The Duke Medium Roast also by Gourmesso is about the same because you are drinking two high-quality blends by the same company. Me personally I am not a fan of medium or dark roasts so Sir Hazel Nut is my choice.

Now the only thing I do not like is the fact that they have more blends for Nespresso Machines. I mean its been a few years now and a lot of people have Keurig’s even us I go as far as to say even more have Keurig’s so they should offer more blends.

I know that is asking for a lot but then again I do realize that I am getting a good quality coffee and a cheap price. I will go as far as to say that most good coffees are priced a little higher in the stores. The prices from the web site are lower than you would find in any other store and yes I know you can just walk into any store right. Sure you can but how many will carry Gourmesso?

Final Thoughts...

So in a nutshell I love the taste sure I tasted several blends in the bundle pack. But they all had a rich high-quality taste, and they even had enough kick so I really enjoyed them. No bitterness if you ever had that one cup of full rich tasting coffee this is it and it's not 6 bucks a cup and you do not have to wait 20 min in line to get it. I am so glad they revamped their formula a few years back and I hope you like it too.

Now again I have to remind everyone, there are coffees I like that many don't. There are a few coffees people love like Starbucks and I can't stand the point is that yes I do reviews but the only true way too find out if you like it is to get some and try it for yourself. You can either love me or hate me for it.

Our Thoughts..

I did not like this one I don’t hate it like I do Starbucks. If there is nothing else then yes I would drink this and add a ton of Pumpkin Spice Creamer in it.. I don’t know I just was not feeling this.. Now do not get me wrong it smelled great it really did smell good enough to get me to stop what I was doing and get into the breakroom for the grand first pour..

Footnote: there is always excitement when we are tasting a brand for the first time.. It makes us all warm and giddy..

Now I added some sugar and half and half and well it was kinda bitter to me. To be fair this was my first cup for that day so no other coffees corrupted my taste.. I really did not get a very gourmet feel to this one..

Now out of five of us two of us did not like it me and the cleaning lady. But the other three interns we have loved it so it goes to show you in anything opinions vary. Our interns are from ages 25 to 31 so maybe its a younger generation thing I dunno.. So the only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself.. We hope you like it. This is not the first time I was wrong about a product for someone.. We do not know you and you do not know us so what we like is what we like. If we were all the same Life would be boring..

Now to be fair..

There was two other blends we found by Wicked Joe.. And we what the hell I figured that I would give the Company another shot..

First Up..

From one Pisan to another I am not really a fan of Organic Coffee nor do I car if it’s Fair Trade or not.. I just want a great to good tasting coffee to get my daily grind on.. (Get it Daily Grind) (Nervous Cough Ahem).. Anyways..

I might be a little out of my mind here but I like this one much better its got a hint of Dark Chocolate in it and I really liked it especially with some peppermint Creamer it was really fantastic . And for the best part all four of us love it.. Yea the cleaning lady left for the day so it was just us and we will make a pot tomorrow when she is around so we can see what she thinks.. Seriously we are like that we are people persons and she is cool as all hell..

Last But Not Least..

Now this one threw me for a loop I have never tasted anything like this before. I am not sure if its a good or bad thing I am really not. One part of me really likes it but it’s a weird kind of like.. The Chocolate is really awesome, but I am very unsure of the spices part again rather odd but a good odd. Once again I had a nice peppermint creamer and well maybe that was it sooo I dunno . I would definitely drink this again and buy it but just for that odd factor alone..

Now all 5 of us were there and 4 of us liked it and the Cleaning lady did not. She really didn’t make a face of disapproval but took a few sips and shook her head no.. Again opinions and people tastes vary and well who knows right you if you choose to buy it like it then awesome very glad you enjoy it..

Why ? because they in our opinion are down right horrible and would not even let our office cats lick up off the floor. Of course that is our opinion on what you may or may not like but when its a unanimous decision in the office then well you get the picture.

Now with any coffee we try of course we are skeptical some of the packaging looks awesome and enticing but just plain bland and at times just throwing the rest down the drain has happened. Then again some coffees just looked average really blew us away.

Just like this Greenberry’s Coffee, we came across, we just thought ahhh ok here we go again right. Well, we were actually shocked really not bad at all not to bitter and smells really amazing and we really enjoyed drinking it black.

We will will say its good and would recommend it to anyone to try, but again what we like might be different on what you like. You might buy it take a sip and spit it out and think that we are crazy for even suggesting it. Or you just might order more and think to your self that we are not that crazy after all.

We are hoping for the latter..

Our Thoughts..

As you know we drink many brands and flavors around the offices here. We love the Gourmesso line but. Sometimes we just love to keep it simple around here. The Donut Shop is a great brand in itself and let’s face it. Maybe you are on a budget that week and need a good coffee. But for less don’t worry its something we all have done. That is why it’s good to have choices. So again this is a brand that is really good and at a very good prices which you can see. Besides that it’s just a really good coffee.

Our Thoughts.

First off I do not drink organic coffee. It is never my first choice I will buy Starbucks before any organic. I’m not saying Starbucks is bad I just never like it. For some odd reason I’m just saying. Now This was actually given to me to drink by one of our interns playing. A little joke on me so for the whole day I was drinking it. Never noticed a difference and I really liked it. In fact when she told me what she did I just laughed and said no way. Then I finished the pot. Yes we have one of those huge Keurig makers and it is awesome..

Anyways..This coffee was so good I could not even get mad. But again this is just my opinion. I cannot speak for everyone else. Hell millions of people like Starbucks and well I just don’t. Does that make me a madman ? I hope not but the moral of the story is differences of opinion. To be honest I hope you try it and actually like it.

To Be Honest…

3 of us out of 5 liked it and well I was one of the 5 that didn’t . There was so much hype going into this Coffee it was like an Mike Tyson fight. You get excited for a great show and in the 10 seconds and Mike knocks the guy out you realize it’s just like all the other over anticipated fights. You expected Mike’s opponent to put up more than a fight to last longer and be better Than all the rest and sadly it was not..

Same here with all the awesome ingredients listed and blah blah blah its just a regular good gourmet coffee is all.. Yes it is a very good coffee but nothing spectacular. I mean The Black Rifle AK-47 Blend Kept me up for two days humming and it was a very good tasty coffee not bitter (At least to me) Like a lot of other strong coffees . It had a taste I did not expect..

With this Café de Loja  it was just nothing special well at least to me.. Now I am not saying it was bad oh no way. But just a wee too over hyped a little..

Water 
Did you know that the water is just as important? Bad water makes bad coffee. Use bottled spring water for the best cup. Avoid using distilled water, unfiltered municipal water, or softened water.

Whatever you do, don’t start with hot water from the tap.

Coffee to Water Ratio
All coffee beans have different densities, so use weight when possible.

You’ll want to use 6 fluid ounces of water for every 110.6 grams (approx. 2 tablespoons) of coffee.

Brewing Process
There are way too many great methods to brew coffee, so follow the directions on your brewer the first few times with a new coffee, then feel free to experiment!
Even though we can’t list all the methods, here are a few tips:
     ● Use the right grind. Don’t assume the finer the grind the stronger the coffee.
     ● Timing is important – Under-extracted coffee is boring, but Over-extracted coffee is bitter.
     ● Do what makes you happy – If you like it, keep doing it, even if is against the “coffee rules”

I’m not saying it was bad at all .. Just a wee bit overhyped. But then again we all have different expectations with certain things we are presented . maybe even I just thought too much into it..
