So I have been drinking this coffee for a few months now on and off, and well I just friggin love it. No, I really really love it, now I can only speak for myself. Many coffees I love then someone has to be a Debbie Downer and just leave a hate comment oh how much they hated it.

Don Francisco’s Double French, Dark Roast Ground Coffee (28 oz Bag)

This Coffee actually surprised us, we taste many many coffees a week so when we see something like this we just have to order it. Most of the time we find that if it’s a very pretty package it’s not really that good. But in this case, they pay as much attention to the coffee as they do the packaging. and that is a good thing.

First off the smell just radiated through the kitchen and it was pretty heavenly and one of the coffee aromas that you just can’t wait to pour into your cup, mug, tumbler so have you. We were really thrown back by it, a very deep dark delicious aroma.

We expected it to be bitter and no it was not at all ( Well to us any way we realize that everyone has different tastes and opinions) To be honest we really do not like dark roast coffees but we really like this one. But again this is just our opinion if you decide to order and try it then we hope you like it as much as we do.

We are not going to pump you up as to why you need to buy this coffee, we are just here to show you how many brands of coffee that are out there and that the choice to try them is entirely up to you. We really enjoy trying new coffees. As a kid of the 70s I am used to very limited choices and now there are so many amazing brands out there we get giddy as all hell when we are looking for a new brand to try.

So take a chance and enjoy whatever brands you can life is short.

We are asked this many many times, and its a very fair question so fair in fact I really tried to go back and well figure it all out. To the point where the only answer I can come up is…. We Go through a lot of Friggin Coffee lol…

We have been doing this blog I want to say two years now, we only started about a month or two before that. We started this blog to get extra traffic to our You Tube Channels. But then the pandemic hit and well we could not travel as much with all the restrictions that were put in place and we really had to focus on our charity The JRX Foundation so we have been really busy with that.

But we still manage to do a review here an there when we can, God knows we haven’t stopped drinking coffee and that’s just not gonna happen anytime soon. We are always drinking the nectar of the gods, but as for the question at hand to have a serious answer is kinda asking when the sun is going to come up.

We always have a few bags open what we drink depends on our mood, and well to be honest I have been known to have a cup an hour or two before bed so in the morning and afternoon a high caffeine coffee such as Black Rifle or Sin Coffee and at night whatever I can grab that is not the high caffeine blends and yes decaffeinated is totally outta the question for this guy and many of the people that help me review the coffee blends we get.

We can actually go through three one pound bags a week, some blends we like to spend a day or two reviewing them just so we can be fair and give the brand a chance. There are so many factors to coffee reviews and we certainly do want to slam a brand or blend on a first taste basis.

Now keep in mind we taste many coffees’s a day and we are really tough. If you want a good review from us, You had best believe you are going to earn it. We have tasted coffees that boasted on how much caffeine that had. Come to find out that they were no better than your average form of caffeinated coffee. And yes we will slam your for that well actually roast you for it. (see what we did there)

Anyhoo we put it into our trusty Farberware single cup maker and just waited for that sweet smell of the nectar of the gods going into my cup and yes it is a heavenly smell. And well let it cool for a second and took a sip of it black. And well it was not really that bad I actually expected it to be very bitter and it was not bitter at all. Its a rather nice dark coffee as well.

Then I added a lil sugar and half and half and this coffee really came to life. Now, this is a good, strong coffee. It’s actually pretty far from the original Major Dickason’s Blend in the 80s when I was a teen. But also back then the beans were rich and very good as well. But as with any coffee beans over the years, crops change, so beans are not going to be what they once were.

We are talking over 30 years ago so there’s that. Now I was actually worried that this was going to come out as one of those dreaded Starbucks blends no amount of Oreo Cookie creamer can over take the bitterness of those blends I am sorry but I just never liked Starbucks. Millions love them but not me so I don’t know what else to say.

But I am now a fan of Peets Coffee and this blend particularly so do your self a favor and try it out. We hope you like it as much as we do.

As a Kid…

Of the 1970s and living in New Jersey everyone in my family lived on coffee. We had to set the coffee pot before bed, and the smell would wake you up way before the alarm would. My dad was a teamster so he was the first to get up at 5 am so he could make the train from Maplewood to Newark.

Then my mom would get up and get her coffee then my Uncle would come out of his room get coffee and they would be on their way to work an take me and my sister to school.

All I could remember was that amazing smell of coffee it was heavenly it really was. I could not wait to be old enough to be able to drink it, now would my dad and uncle give me a sip on the side ? yea they would but it was always don’t tell your mom lol.

Then in my teenage years I was 15 I believe I woke up one morning and boom had a cup and my mom just looked at me and said well where’s my cup heh heh. Ok ok I get it. Now there was a few time where the coffee pot wasn’t set and well I had to get to school so a can of Jolt or Coke had to make do. Hey I was a teenager I needed my caffeine one way of the other ya know.

Now there was your basic coffees you know Maxwell House, Folgers, Tasters Choice, and International Coffee’s to name a few. And your basic condiments. Milk, Cream or Half and Half. There was no Hazelnut or Pumpkin Spice, flavored coffee was really a specialty and could only be bought at the local supermarket.

There were no special places to get any special coffee at least not in New Jersey. You have your regular Diners and Luncheonettes if you had 50 cents you had a cup of coffee plain and simple. Even the local Roach Coaches there is your coffee milk and sugar that was it.

There were no tumblers if you wanted to take your coffee with you to work or wherever. You put it in a thermos it held a pot of coffee and the plastic cap doubled as your coffee cup. But be prepared to drink it black or take some milk and sugar from the break room at work. My Dad used to save the little creamers and sugar packets from when he used to eat at the diners.

He would bring some home for me because he knew I loved drinking those little creamers they were sooo tasty heh heh.

I just can’t believe on how much the coffee industry has boomed in the last 25 years. There are so many coffees out there, now you have these special syrups and creamers. I would have never thought there would be an Oreo Cookie creamer or a Peppermint one. And I have no idea where baristas came from, I wanna say they just appeared outta no where.

Coffee used to be so simple you walk in say gimme whatever size you want milk cream or sugar and pay your dollar in some cases and you are off. Now you can get designs on them or one pump of whatever you want. I can literally take 5 min to get your special brew.

They literally turned it into a billion dollar industry and it just seems to keep growing. 30 years ago if you were to tell me that coffee was going to be 5 to 7 bucks an order I would laugh in your face literally. Sure can go to your local WAWA and get a large for like $1.80 but you want a triple maraschino you are paying at least 5 buck for it. Hell at one place The Brooklyn Bagel Water Co I paid $4.50 for an Iced Coffee now I have not been back but still.

And yes I always get the if you do not like it don’t buy it , and trust me that is why I do coffee reviews. A lot gets sent to us and oh yes a lot we agree is good you see our reviews on a lot of them. Me myself personalty is going to keep it simple I just need good taste a lot of caffeine and I am good.

You can hold the Almond Soy milk and your Venti’s .

So…

After patiently waiting for Amazon to deliver our latest coffee to do a review on. I open the cabinet and find a box of Victor Allen’s Donut Shop Blend Coffee. I totally forgot to review this order, we have just been so off-kilter lately. I must have looked at this box 50 times in the past week. And it just dawned on me.

Now there are many brands that offer a Donut Shop Blend and quite frankly they are ok. Hey I’m just in it for the Caffeine and the taste, but I gotta say this is really a good tasting coffee even before the creamer. Sometimes I just like a good cup of joe black with no sugar, and this brand I can drink either way. Its a mild tasting blend no and yes its a bit bitter but that goes away after a few sips once you get used to the taste.

Now again many people will have their own opinion and that is perfectly fine. But it is in our finding that this brand has really done a good job with this blend.

Take our pick for today ..

Community Coffee Premium Ground Coffee, French Roast, Dark Roast, 32 oz., (Pack of 2)

Now I never really liked the packaging on this brand, it never really excited me so I never really went out of my way to drink it. There were so many other brands I wanted to try first so when I got to it I got to it.

Then a few days ago I walk in to the office kitchen where we make the magic happen. An see the bag sitting on the counter and smell it while it is actually brewing before my eyes. And my very lovely intern comes in and says she always wanted to try it so she got it. Now after smelling it I really wanted to try it as well so she gave me the first cup.

Now we always try our coffees black first to get the initial taste, and wow I was really impressed. Its really A nice, strong, dark roast suitable for everyday coffee. I really did not want to add any creamer but we just got the Oreo Cookie Creamer from International Delight and I have been dying to try it out.

So not only do we recommend this coffee but I think I just might buy this for my coffee drinking at home. I mean yes there is a reason why I love reviewing coffee I will have about two pots a day so I know what I like an don’t like off the bat. My frequent readers know that I can’t stand Starbucks with a Passion.

I will only drink Dunkin Donuts as a last resort, and when I am on the road I am forced to drink your Pilot and Flying J coffee well because I am on the road and can’t really get anything else.

Well that’s my time I hope if you decide to order this coffee that you enjoy it as much as I did. If you didn’t to each is own no harm no foul its all good.

Now with any coffee we try of course we are skeptical some of the packaging looks awesome and enticing but just plain bland and at times just throwing the rest down the drain has happened. Then again some coffees just looked average really blew us away.

Just like this Greenberry’s Coffee, we came across, we just thought ahhh ok here we go again right. Well, we were actually shocked really not bad at all not to bitter and smells really amazing and we really enjoyed drinking it black.

We will will say its good and would recommend it to anyone to try, but again what we like might be different on what you like. You might buy it take a sip and spit it out and think that we are crazy for even suggesting it. Or you just might order more and think to your self that we are not that crazy after all.

We are hoping for the latter..
